Complete the DS-160 Form
2–3 weeks before interviewFill out the Non-immigrant Visa Application (DS-160) online at ceac.state.gov. Have your passport, I-20, and passport photo ready.
Schedule Your Visa Interview
4–8 weeks before startBook your appointment at the nearest US Embassy or Consulate. Appointment availability varies by location — book early!
Prepare Your Documents
1–2 weeks before interviewGather all required documents: valid passport, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS fee receipt, I-20 form, financial proof, admission letter, academic transcripts, and photos.
Attend the Visa Interview
Interview dayAttend your scheduled interview at the Embassy. Be honest, confident, and clearly articulate your academic goals, ties to your home country, and financial readiness.
Receive Your Visa & Travel
1–4 weeks after interviewAfter approval, your passport will be returned with the F-1 visa stamp. You may enter the US up to 30 days before your program start date.

- Valid passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond program end date)

- SEVIS fee payment receipt (I-901)
